The Society House Has Endured
Like Charleston herself, The Society House has overcome centuries of adversity to endure as an elegant lodging option for sophisticated visitors to Charleston’s famed historic district. Originally constructed in 1801, the location on the corners of King and Society Streets is at the center of the heart of Charleston’s prime shopping and dining district. The building was typical of King Street merchant lifestyle – a shop on the ground floor and the family residence on the floors above. The Society House has stood strong through war, earthquake, conflagrations, floods caused by hurricanes, the Great Depression and, now, the Great Recession.
All the Comforts of Home in Downtown Charleston
Beautiful hardwood floors, high ceilings, large windows, and some units have exposed brick walls that all combine to create an atmosphere of being a visitor in the home of a sophisticated, urban-dwelling friend. Kitchens are equipped with high-end, stainless steel appliances and natural stone counter tops. Baths have premium fixtures and both ceramic and stone finishes, depending upon the unit. Comparable suites in Charleston luxury hotels and inns would typically cost much more. The Society House provides exceptional value without compromising quality.
